A rich conversation and interview about someone I've run across but never read, except in front matter to a Merton book or two. So much good here: the idea of mindfulness not as a tool but as a journey, as transformation into something we can't foresee; of political change beginning with nonviolent training and not on the streets; of accepting even unfair criticism in a practice of listening as a means of self-transformation. The Dante line about the haste "which mars the dignity of every act." This podcast as "among other things, an invitation to the ancestors to join us in the room." The false dichotomy between spiritual practice and political activism. Great material here. As always, I appreciate the book recommendations.
