Loving this episode, guys, especially after reading Distant Neighbours over Christmas. One small detail - I'm pretty sure the passage Pete quotes at 1h02m ("don't fight against even the devil") is from one of Berry's letters to Snyder, rather than Snyder's side of the correspondence. The theological discussions between Snyder's Buddhism and Berry's "forest Christianity" are fascinating.
Absolutely loved this episode, which I discovered looking for something about Gary to listen to on a long drive to celebrate his 95th. I studied with Gary over 30 years ago and have read nearly everything by and about him. This was one of the most comprehensive and succinct tellings of his story and importance I’ve ever heard. Thank you!
